Advanced Women’s Healthcare’s New Tele-Education Program Gives Personalized Cancer Risk Assessments, Hereditary Cancer Prevention

What Is Tele-Education Cancer Screening?

Tele-Education is a new hereditary cancer-screening service offered to Advanced Women’s Healthcare patients and powered by Myriad myRisk Testing. Patients should speak with their doctor to find out if cancer screening is right for them.

How Does Tele-Education Testing Work?

The knowledgeable genetic counselors at AWH will discuss relevant family history with the patient, allowing the patient to choose whether or not to move forward with blood testing.

If a patient decides on further testing, professionals will draw blood at the office and set up a meeting to discuss the results.

Myriad myRisk® testing includes personalized and free education. In the comfort of a private, specially-designated room, patients can watch an educational video reviewing hereditary cancer concepts, testing options, results and possible medical management considerations. Patients will then connect with a certified genetic counselor, who will answer any questions they have.

One in eight women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Tele-Education and Myriad can help you calculate your breast cancer risk. Take the one-minute hereditary cancer quiz to help you determine whether you should be further evaluated for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, Lynch syndrome or other hereditary cancers.
