Why Botox?
We are proud to increase confidence in our patients through the administration of wrinkle-reducing Botox injections.
There is no doubt you’ve heard of Botox, but what do you really know about it? We are proud to offer Botox treatment through our Advanced Women’s Center for Wellness.
We all know that Botox is used to treat wrinkles in the face, but it is also used medically to treat certain muscle conditions. It works in the same way in both instances by paralyzing muscles, which leads to straightening the skin that covers them. Botox is the most popular non-surgical aesthetic procedure in the world.
Botox is backed by more than 16 years of published studies, and its potency cannot be compared to any other similar product. This is why there is no “generic” Botox. The FDA has stated Botox is “interchangeable,” which means that its safety and effectiveness cannot be claimed by another product.
How Does Botox Work?
Facial lines are caused by repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting or raising the eyebrows. This causes this skin to furrow and fold, resulting in the formation of wrinkles or facial lines. Botox works underneath the surface to temporarily reduce the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines in adults, to help them look visibly smoother.
We will inject these facial muscles with Botox to temporarily reduce muscle activity. Within a few days to a week or two, depending on the patient, you will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the frown lines, particularly your crow’s feet and forehead lines.
How Does Botox Feel, and How Long Does Botox Last?
Many patients have described receiving Botox to feel like a pinch. Results of Botox treatment may be noticeable within 24 to 48 hours, with a noticeable smoothing of frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines. Full results will be seen in roughly 30 days, lasting up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines.
Botox treatment requires little downtime, so you can return to your daily routine immediately.
When Should I Get Botox?
The answer is actually not based on age. It’s based on the severity of facial lines or wrinkles. Sixty-four percent of plastic surgeons report a rise in cosmetic surgery or injectable treatments for patients in their early 30s.
Everyone’s lines form differently. Timing can be affected by a combination of factors, including cellular changes that happen over time and reduction of collagen, as well as genetic factors or damage caused by free radicals from the environment.
Call us whenever your facial lines start to bother you, and we will determine if Botox treatment is right for you.
