Allergy/Congestion
- Benadryl, Claritin or Claritin-D, Zyrtec or Zyrtec-D
- Mucinex plain or Mucinex DM
- Saline nasal spray
- Sudafed, plain (not if you have high blood pressure)
Constipation
- Citracel, Konsyl, Metamucil, or Miralax (bulking agents, can be used daily)
- Colace (stool softener)
- Milk of Magnesia (true laxative, only if necessary)
Cough
- Cough drops (any)
- Mucinex-DM
- Robitussin DM or Robitussin PE
Diarrhea
- Avoid foods high in caffeine, fats, fiber or milk products
- Take adequate fluids with carbohydrates and electrolytes (Gatorade, PowerAde)
- Imodium, Kaopectate, but NO Pepto Bismol (contains aspirin)
Headaches
- Tylenol- 2 Extra Strength tablets according to label directions
- Do NOT take Advil, Aspirin or Motrin
Heartburn/Gas
- Gaviscon, Maalox, Mylanta, Tums
- Simethicone (any over the counter gas med)
- Tagamet or Zantac after the first trimester (12 weeks)
Hemorrhoids
- Anusol, Preparation H, Tucks
- Avoid constipation
Nausea and Vomiting
- Seasickness bands (acupressure points), Vitamin B6 25 mg three times a day
- Dramamine, Emetrol, Ginger Supplements, Ginger Tea, Peppermint Tea
Sore Throat
- Chloroseptic spray, cough drops, salt water gargle
Yeast Infection
- Monistat Cream, insert the applicator only one/half way.
